[clue] 17" Linux-based laptop

I'm pretty sure Novell has nothing to do with SUSE. See Crawford's thread. 

I think the rest of your message means to recommend the Thinkpad series by Lenovo because they have a high commitment to open-ness and compatibility. Is that right? 

If so, let me add a bit: I'm not OK with using a vendor that doesn't sell Linux-based gear to end users, too. Let's say my bosses have a thing for Dell, or HP, or IBM, or whatever. Anyway, for whatever reason, my company won't buy the laptop, so now I have to buy it out of my own pocket. Is Lenovo still your go-to brand?
