[clue] storage distros? (requesting advice)

My project for the weekend, such as it is, is to put more of the hardware
around the apartment to constructive use.  I was looking at FreeNAS.  And
it occurred to me I could ask the club for alternative storage theme
distributions?  Essentially the goal is to create a server I can backup to.
