[clue] replacement in command lines

So, you know how you can type 

^this^that 

at the bash prompt to re-run your last command, replacing 'this' with 'that'? 

Well, it only affects the first instance of 'this', like s/this/that/. Is there a way to make it global, like s/this/that/g?
