[clue] reputable external repos? (question)

I'm doing an gnu make upgrade, either my google-fu has failed me or
gnu.orgonly has it the form of the source code. I could compile it
myself, but
considering I have to do this across 50 some odd boxes, it would save me a
fair amount of effort if I could find it in an RPM. My immediate problem
is that there appear to be resources out there, stuff like rpmfind, but I
haven't been in the linux world long enough to know which ones are
reputable and which ones are pirate websites running out of somebody's
mother's garage. Anyone have any reputable 3rd party repos they can
recommend? (At some point I'm going to have to learn how to make .rpms,
but for the moment that's on my someday-maybe list.)
