CLUE members, thanks for all the useful feedback.

Found some pertaining articles. This seems to sum up where development is going ... DevOps ... mix of development & IT operations.  But you all knew this.  :-)

Taking the Open Source Enterprise Plunge

   http://www.linuxinsider.com/story/Taking-the-Open-Source-Enterprise-Plunge-78130.html

older article, but pertains ... The Chef, the Puppet, and the Sexy IT Admin
   http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2011/10/chef_and_puppet/

>>> James, Thanks for the tip.  http://katello.com/ looks very promising, but as per the http://www.katello.org/ FAQ's, it may not be supported on CentOS.  Use depends upon the customer.

perhaps http://rundeck.org/ is an option

I might get to use ...

http://www.spacewalkproject.org/  provisions using Kickstart ... cool !

http://puppetlabs.com/

Going to be significant Tomcat deployments so this should help:
  http://www.tomcatexpert.com/blog/2010/04/29/deploying-tomcat-applications-puppet

Plus the customer wants ...

for the developers, an Artifactory repo management server ... we'll use the pro version; here is the open version
   http://www.jfrog.com/home/v_artifactory_opensource_overview

throw in some Jenkins ...
   https://jenkins-ci.org/

Going to be an interesting summer for sure!
