The notices for the June Installfest mostly were bounced by the Yahoo
server. Now, I am trying to send them out differently, that bouncing does
not happen. However, if you did get a notice for the June fest, I will
repeat some things now for the next event. My apologies.

*Yes, there will be another Installfest on July 5th, at 2:00 p.m. *Again,
we will meet at the Concoctory, 1875 South Broadway. The Concoctory is two
buildings north of Jewell on the West side. Parking is off street. I have
been parking on Jewell, the second block east of Broadway, and it works out
easy.

The Software Freedom School meets at the Concoctory on July 5th as well, in
the morning until 1:00 p.m., and the participants can socialize thereafter
until 1:30 p.m. Then, we will rearrange the furniture, and the Installfest
begins at 2:00 p.m.

*I think Installfests should be about more than installing operating
systems. An Installfest also should be about using the systems. *Thus, I
would also like to discuss using software on Linux systems at the fests. If
there is something you would like reviewed in the future, let me know. (I
mean up to a limit -- as I still cannot figure out how to install a
polytonic Greek keyboard).

During my Ubuntu 14.04 presentation, I mentioned *Softmaker Free Office, *as
an alternative word processor. Recently, I did check the print quality of
the word processor, and it is very impressive. The line and letter spacing
are much better than LibreOffice Writer, something always noticed by the
unconscious mind in reading documents. With the Gentium Book Basic font,
line spacing at least 14pt, and after paragraph spacing 6pt, *Textmaker
puts out print quality essentially equal to DTP. *Thus, I have made
Textmaker my go to Word Processor. (Textmaker has some other nice features,
but it is not a DTP program).

You might want to give it a try.

After installing *Softmaker Free Office, setting the defaults *can be
confusing, as well as what to do with the desktop icons that appeared, and
how to get them into the Unity Launcher. I can go over these setup features
at the next Installfest.

Also, the *free Gentium fonts *I endorsed actually do not install with the
Software Center, using the .deb package. I can go over how to make
installing the fonts easy using a tar.gz package -- and one way that will
work with installing many other fonts as well, and with moving the fonts
simply into an updated OS. (We can also go over the installation of MS Core
Fonts, if you have found doing so frustrating).

Do not pass up having a professionally designed font for free like Gentium.
It makes a difference, especially on documents that really matter, like
resumes or consumer complaints. (I can also just install these fonts on
your computer from a flash drive).
