I've thought about this story from time to time since I first read it back
when I was 11 or 12. Back then, the story didn't just say AC, it said
analog computer. At that time, with the development of the OP Amp
(Operational Amplifier, because it performs mathematical operations) , a
lot of smart people thought that analog computers were the future of
computers. I have a Philbrick Researches Inc. op amp sitting in my office
that I like to show people. It contains 2 Vacuum Tubes.
Something to chew on.
