[clue] Setting FQDN on RHEL7.

That seems to be by design:

[dlwillson at nb-willson-7 ~]$ hostname
nb-willson-7.localdomain
[dlwillson at nb-willson-7 ~]$ hostname -f
nb-willson-7.localdomain
[dlwillson at nb-willson-7 ~]$ hostname -s
nb-willson-7
