Got one with Subject: CVS update: %s, from pubcvs.

The other one got flagged by mailman, since it came from
jcann at clue.denver.co.us. Unfortunately mailmain isn't showing it to me in
the mailmain interface. It says there are no pending administrator
requests, even though I got the notification e-mail.

But it looks as if something hinted at in the Coriolis book is, in fact
true. I'm inferring that your second test was via the pserver, logged in
as yourself. Thus, CVS (via whatever means), has the mail coming from you.
In practice, I'd expect anyone commiting to the site_devel project to be
subscribed to the CLUE-Dev list. But it brings up one thing I forgot to
mention. In my testing, I set up the CVSROOT/passwd file for myself, with
the 3rd parameter of "pubcvs", so that my pserver session would run as the
repository owner. I wound up doing that because without the passwd file
(authenticating via /etc/passwd), I didn't have repository access, even
though I added myself to the cvs group. I was focused on figuring out how
log.pl worked, so I didn't think a lot about that issue.

And now that I think about it some more, it won't work for committers,
based on their being subscribed to the CLUE-Dev list, because the sending
domain will always be clue.denver.co.us.

Even curiouser, I'm looking at the CLUE CVSROOT/passwd file. Since it
shows everyone with the 3rd parameter, commits via pserver should result
in e-mails from pubcvs.

So, exactly what did you do for your tests? Did you connect to CVS
locally, or via SSH?
