[CLUE-Cert] [Fwd: CLUE-Talk: Linux certification study group -- new mailing list]

I have a DELL laptop that loves Linux, which wants to help any way it can.
My desktop also wants to help, but it will not be available until September
(currently has a full-time job).

If we will only be meeting every other week, we should consider having at
least four hours of "curriculum", and 6:30PM to 10:30PM may be the sweet
spot between rush-hour and exhaustion.
Another alternative might be to meet every other Saturday or Sunday
afternoon. Less difficult schedules on those days. Or simply every week,
rather than every other...

Who are the "intermediates" in the study group? It would be a very, very
good idea to formalize the curriculum. General Q&A sessions are fun and
liberating, but progress far too slowly. I'm thinking one, or two at most,
topics per session, and four hours of "homework" per week. This should
yield a certification-level geek in 3-6 months, depending on prior
experience.

Eric,

Tuesday is not a good night for me. I have meetings on the first three
Tuesday's of every month. From the people who have talked to me so far
about what works for them, a two hour meeting every other Wednesday is
looking good. Does this work for you?

Dusty mentioned a potential meeting place to me last night. It's a
book store at Kipling (or Wadsworth) and Jewel. At least one of the
folks who wants to join us in the study group is a CU student who
relies on public transportation. I'd like to keep both parking and
public transportation in mind when we select a meeting place. Also,
it would be helpful to have at least one Linux machine along on which
we can demonstrate or verify procedures. Laptops would be flexible
if those of you in the group who have them would be willing to bring
them along. Otherwise, we should be looking for a place to meet that
has at least one Linux computer.
