I just (4 days ago) bought the Olympus Stylus 300.  Works great with Linux 
since it uses mass USB storage - Mount the USB as a vfat file type and cp/mv 
the jpg images from the camera's memory.  No manual and I was downloading to 
RHAT 9 in about 5 minutes.

Also, you'll save anywhere from $50 to $100 if you can buy it on line vs 
retail (Circuit City, Best Buy have the same prices which are higher 
in-store).
