Microkernel's are actually much easier to write (seperation of memory, 
minimization of any troubling interactions ).

But you do have to have one design in mind.
Right now, you have literally a herd of GNU that is pulling in all directions 
with no clear leader.

Linux has Linus  to rule the roost. He makes all technical choices in the end 
when there is a battle. Now, if you do not like it, fine. No Problem. You can 
do your own stuff.  But Linus's kernel is what everybody works from for now.

But in the early stages, you need a focus on the direction.
