Warren,
If I were you and wanted to keep email private - from gmail, yahoo, hotmail,
your isp, whomever, then I would start signing and encrypting your email.
You have no privacy with email unless you encrypt it, no matter who delivers
your email because as the unencrypted email is delivered, any malicious sys
admin can read it. In fact, on some ISPs that are tapped by the FBI, they
already are reading it.
Unfortunately, only client MUAs such as Kmail allow for easy encryption of
messages. Services like gmail, yahoo, hotmail are even less secure because
your mail always remains out of your control and none of them have features
to encrypt.
