Another thing to consider is that it has a BSD base.   This means more 
portability between Linux and OSX.  I am hoping for a time when 
portability becomes easier.    Imagine a world where your applications 
run on any major OS.  You can then choose your OS based on the merits of 
the OS, and not which applications you can get.
