[CLUE-Tech] Win95 Client w/ Samba

Can anyone point me to a Win95 Client configuration guide. I'm dinking
around with a Win95 PC, trying to get it to 'see' my Samba server. I
need to dump a bunch of files off the PC so I can wipe the hard drive
before upgrading it to Linux ;)

I do know that the samba server is configured properly, as my wife's
Win98 box can connect.

I'm not sure why it can't see the samba server. I've captured the results
of a DOS net view command with tcpdump on the samba box:

08:14:26.985157 192.168.1.8.137 > 192.168.1.255.137:
>>> NBT UDP PACKET(137): QUERY; REQUEST; BROADCAST
08:14:27.493565 192.168.1.8.137 > 192.168.1.255.137:
>>> NBT UDP PACKET(137): QUERY; REQUEST; BROADCAST
08:14:27.737611 192.168.1.8.137 > 192.168.1.255.137: i

[snip]

08:14:29.789212 192.168.1.8.137 > 192.168.1.255.137:
>>> NBT UDP PACKET(137): QUERY; REQUEST; BROADCAST
08:14:29.859083 192.168.1.8.137 > 192.168.1.254.53: 44+ A? ARABIE.ORG.arabie.org. (45)
08:14:29.860408 192.168.1.254.53 > 192.168.1.8.137: 44 NXDomain* 0/1/0 (96)

[snip]

As you can see above, the client [192.168.1.8] is sending the requests
out over the broadcast address [192.168.1.255], not directly to the
samba box. I have configured the TCP/IP properties on the Win95 box to
use WINS, and put the samba box in as the WINS server. Is that correct?

The Win95 box is getting IP and subnet mask from my DHCP server. These
are correct when observerd in the winipconfig.exe utility.

Can anyone recommend any other troubleshooting tests?

TIA.

BTW. I know there are other, less complex ways of getting the files
onto the samba box (ftp, sftp w/PuTTY, etc.). This *should* be a quite
simple task, since I have a good samba box already running. I would
like to 'fix' this Win95 client and learn some more about samba in the
process ;-)
