Yes, if you mean "Is the data worth saving?"  No, if you mean "Is it 
worth fixing samaba access to get the data transferred?"

I used PuTTY's sftp client to copy it over.

They are, I'm not sure what the problem was/is.  I've tacked it on to my 
list of "little thingies" to work on...
