For zip and other files I usr TkZip. It's a GUI for tar, zip, bzip2, gzip, 
rpm, cpio, rar, arj, bzip, compress, shorten ar,  & tgz. You need the acctual 
program, ie. tar , zip. But it works well beacuse I can't rember all the 
command line options. (I've never tried it w/ rpm, but it claims to work.)
