[CLUE-Tech] Wireless Barcoding thru Linux Port

I am using SuSe 6.4 Linux with an 8-user Multi-port board using Wyse 60
monitors and Okidata printers. I'm trying to set up a port for a wireless
R/F terminal (reader/scanner,Tri-coder made by Wrothington) and it's base
sets by the cpu contains a cable that is converted to a 25 pin RS232 jack.
Their support techs have told me that it will and does work with Linux using
simple Basic programming. They have told me:
1. There can be No operating system management.
    (no Logins,etc) except bufffering.
2. It cannot emulate a terminal (even thought it is) like a VT220.
Does anyone have know how to disable a login to say '/dev/ttyS3' and set the
port for buffering?
I have been editing the /etc/inittab file (trying to be careful) and trying
different options for this port thru 'man agetty' and it gets confusing. I
am familiar with most areas where linux uses the devices like
/sbin/init.d/serial and others.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Dave Willcox
