One suggestion I have is to use "ext3" as the file system type for
"/home". I made the mistake of using some other more exotic file system
types which I now can't even remember their names (Reiser was one and
the other one escapes me now, but it is included with Mandrake).
However the problem was that not all distributions have available the
more exotic ones, and if they don't you are out of luck. I think almost
all distributions presently support ext3.
