All of us have our hot buttons. I am offended by people who hid behind
an alias, people who top ost, and people who regularly fail to trim
their posts. You get excited when a post drifts away from the 100%
technical. One of the problems with a thread is that there is usually
more than one topic. So, when I reply to one topic out of three, nicely
trimming my responses, is that off topic?
I agree that we should probably avoid politics, movies, religion
(although we make exception for emacs and debian <grin>), etc., but
personally I'm not offended by anything even vaguely related to
computers and I don't get bent out of shape when someone supplies
appropriately brief information about Microsoft products.
My vote doesn't count for much, but I say chill, and I'm certainly not
looking for a new list.
