P.S.  Dan - Just to be clear:

I think courier-imap will work most like your current implementation of 
dragging emails to a shared network drive.  The difference is that with 
courier-imap, users will drag the message to a shared folder within the email 
client, rather than dragging it to their file explorer (outside of their 
email client).
