Thanx to all who replied. The WPC55AG card has the Atheros chipset, so
by using madwifi I was able to get it up and running.
As a side note, this month's talk at CLUE-North was about wireless
security and how many users do not change anything from the defaults.
With my system, I found on channel 6, three other networks, none using
any encryption at all, and one using linksys-g (the default) as the SSID.
