[clue-tech] Qwest Choice Internet Basic (DSL) Gotcha - bridge mode not supported?

This is almost certainly a tech that doesn't know what they are talking
about, and using techno mumbo jumbo to cover it up. Do you have an
Actiontec modem? Doesn't it get an IP address from Qwest (you can see this
in the status portion of the menu if I remember)? You mentioned you
purchased a static IP.

The Actiontec has NAT built in, and this will allow you to share your
connection with multiple PC's.

Look at your DHCP lease and see if the information is correct. Namely,
make sure the default gateway and DNS servers are specified, and correct.

I have Qwest DSL (but not Internet Basic) with an Actiontec modem and
share the connection with my other four computers without any trouble.

If nothing else, buy a cheapie Linksys or D-Link router and have that do
the NAT for you, and attach it to the Actiontec. It will be a lot easier
than setting up an entire Linux box to do NAT.
