Hello everyone,
So my boss says "What is the best way to identify network routers and
switches within DNS?"

My response is that you should practice managing the local loopback
address of the routers.

As for edge switches and the like, I just normally recommend that a
procedure be followed that identifies a switch as the third address in
the segment. That's just an example, but the idea being that once you
are familiar with you new network, you can always identify a switch by
it's last octet.

Do any of you have better advice for me? Are there better best
practices out there for management of lan switches and the like?

Thanks,
Rich
