Fwd: [clue-tech] DSL modem issue?

Gus,

I'm located north of Denver in Northglenn. I looked on Craigs list and there are two routers list for $15 or $40. Before spending the money, it would be helpful to check that my modem is in fact the issue. How would you like to arrange the loan (say for two weeks if that works for you)?

Adrian

I used a Cisco 678 modem for Qwest DSL purposes for over 5 years with
no problems requiring reset. I ran VOIP very successfully. Used 678
modems can be obtained cheaply and in fact I would be willing to loan
you one to try out.

Folks,

I have had Qwest DSL for perhaps 5 years now. Ever since the
beginning, I've had to occasionally reset (unplug power, then reboot)
the DSL modem/router. I'm expecting to use a type of VOIP service and
am wondering what I can do to improve my Internet connection so I
don't lose home phone service. I'm also tired of constantly going to
my basement to reboot the modem to get internet service.

Do DSL modems typically have issues? I've moved residences in the
mean time, so I think it's the modem, and not necessarily the service.

I've attempted some shopping research on DSL modems, but I'm
overwhelmed at what to look for. It seams like DSL modems run around
$70, which is rather expensive for me at the moment.

Any suggestions or recommendations? Thank you.

Adrian
