Apparently the linux driver I downloaded did the trick BUT it didn't
really register to the machine UNTIL I ran the config tool for Suse,
Yast. Once I started the network device tool, the machine's light lit
up and was able to configure the card successfully. Strangely it set up
the card on eth1 instead of wlan0, but that's only strange because it
has always been wlan0. There must have been a conflict between the
linux driver and the ndis driver I tried to install and installing the
new linux driver resolved that issue.

I did need to set the routing address in the configuration. It seems to
me that DHCP should set that value through the wireless ssid connection,
but it didn't. I couldn't connect to the 'net until I populated that
setting. I had to do this last time also so I'm wondering if it is an
anomaly of the wireless router. It's a Belkin router but I am running
DD-WRT instead of the OEM firmware.

In any case I am up and running and thanks to Collins and David.
