[clue] Linux vs. Windows

Daryl,

Can I call you Daryl, or will that be too informal? I won't be coming to any
events, because I live in North Dakota. I used to live in the Denver area.
Are you really being sincere about wanting to meet me? I doubt it. I thought
that the LUG had a spirit of rebellion to it. So, both Torren's comments and
Raymond's, and now yours, all seeming to tell me to shut up, struck me as
strange. Unless, you guys aren't about rebellion and don't really care about
Free Software or Linux. It is just a way to make money, and as such, you
don't really care about the political philosophy behind it. That is what I'm
getting at.

I didn't use the word communist. I don't follow either of your logic. The
cold war is over, even if I did use that word, then I don't think there
would be problems. I thought Russia was our friend, now.

You want to meet me so you can laugh at me and put me in my place, because I
have real feelings. I like Linux, and I thought that was what being in this
group was about. With all this political correct nonsense talk, then how do
other people, if they are out there, express their real opinions?

The point I was trying to make is that I thought the attempts to shut me up
were meant to cover up the fact that the average person in this group
doesn't really care about free software, but just cares about money, and so
that is why people are responding in the way they are. Does that make any
sense? For people like Richard Stallman, who forwarded the idea of the free
software movement, which got distorted to "open source", it got marketed to
a new type of customer, one who didn't really have strong opinions about the
corporate domination, and so I wrote about criticizing Microsoft
Corporation, because unless we really take a look at what is going on, then
we aren't really doing much to fight against this. We are simply using a
product that we like, without recognizing it's true beauty and value, what
makes it so special. Why we should appreciate it.

Maybe, that makes a little more sense.

Louis
