I don't know if it is Xen. Is there a quick way to find out? I'm guessing there is probably a kernel module.

This is a Xen VM? Top shows high IO wait when processing the first
GET in the webpage. How is disk provisioned for this system? vmstat
does show high swap and block IO when performing the main page GET as
well as high IO wait consistent with the results from top.
