That's a kernel configuration setting.  You probably don't have to worry about it.

Yes, that's what I would do.  But first I'd look to see if it was there--if it is then you have a 
bigger problem to fix.

You don't need to do anything with the .iso (unless you want to make a live CD work--in that case 
talk to the live CD people and get them to tell you how to load your firmware on it).

Do the install, install the firmware you need (your distro should have directions on which package 
is needed), then reinstall the card and try it.
