[clue] Linux phones?

For some context, I've been searching around for reviews/opinions from
time to time (ever since I heard about Canonical's plans to release
their "Ubuntu phone"). Recently, I ran across this:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2953812/operating-systems/kde-unveils-plasma-mobile-a-free-and-open-linux-os-for-phones.html
The idea of also being able to also support Android apps seems to be an
interesting one (I imagine at some point Docker could go on these
things, if it isn't being done already, and support Android in a
container?). But navigating the byzantine world (in the U.S., anyway) of
plans, providers, unlocking, etc...can be a bit daunting, I guess, and I
don't really have the time these days for being a full-blown hobbyist
smart phone user, although I would like to do more tinkering outside the
realm of ios, so I'm thinking about jumping to Linux and/or Android...
I don't have that much of a problem doing most things Linux, but heck,
even figuring out if a given iphone was supported by the vendor I wanted
to use (flat fee being big draw for me - straight talk) was something
that took a while, and I eventually gave up on, and stayed with my
current iphone because reports on whether it would work with straight
talk at the time was unclear.
I guess the device and its software isn't the only part about people's
experiences I'm wondering about, although that's important, too. I'd
like to know what providers and plans are and how they panned out.
Who knows, maybe someone out there has one and wants to turn it into a
talk for CLUE? ;)
Cheers,
